engine giving 153kW (205bhp) at 2,200rpm net installed while the gearbox is the same Eaton box as used in the Scammell. The clutch is a single-dry-plate type, 432mm (17in) in diameter.
Both the frame crossmembers and side-members are of channel section and bolted construction. The cab for the Mammoth Major and the Octopus is the Ergomatic allsteel design while the Scammell retains its grp construction.
The Guy Big J8 is the only model available — but for how long will depend on existing stocks — from the Leyland range which can be fitted with the 6LXB Gardner engine.
