Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

B licence. Under the new drivers' hours regulations which take effect from March 1 1970, can Fuse my van for pleasure purposes after I have worked the maximum permitted hours?

AThe new drivers' hours regulations allow an owner-driver to use his vehicle for pleasure purposes after completing the maximum hours of work in connection with his trade or business in the working day.

Section 96 of the Transport Act states that a driver shall not drive for periods amounting to more than 10 hours on any working day. A working day is defined in Section 103 of the Act "as any period during which he (the driver) is on duty...."

An owner-driver is not on duty except when he is driving a vehicle, "for the purposes of a trade or business carried on by him or being otherwise engaged in work for the purposes of that trade or business, being work in connection with such a vehicle or the load carried thereby" (Section 103 4(b) ).
