• The proposal to establish a forked rates system, to apply to road haulage between member states, was approved by 57 votes to 4 at a recent meeting of the Common Market economic and social committee. The committee regretted that the EEC Commission had taken so long to present the proposal, first discussed in detail in September 1968.
