MR. V. A. HIGGS has succeeded MR. E. SAYERS as manager of the aero and auto equipment sales department of the British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd.

MR. FRANK F. FOWLER was presented with an illuminated address by the national chairman of the Road Haulage Association, MR. BERNARD WINTERBOTTOM, last week, to commemorate his election as an honorary member. This election followed Mr. Fowler's two years of office as national chairman and is a recognition of over 20 years' service to the industry.

MR. NORMAN TATTERSALL, M.I.Mech.E., has become chief engineer of Leyland Motors, Ltd. He joined the company as an apprentice in 1917 and has been chief draughtsman, research engineer and chief designer. He was latterly acting chief engineer. DR. INC. A. MUELLER has been appointed chief development and research engineer in charge of a new division for long-term development. He used to be with the

concern in Germany.

MR. R. A. BECKETT, assistant managing director of Beckett, Laycock and Watkinson, Ltd., has left for a business trip to India. Pakistan and Burma. On the way home in March, he will visit Egypt.

MR. BERNARD WINIERBOTTOM, MR. J. Gauutarrn and MR. B. HARWOOD have been elected members of the executive committee of Blackburn Sub-area of the National Road Transport Federation. MR. G. B. HOWDEN, M.INST.C.E., is to become chairmin of the Ulster Transport Authority. When MR. F. A. POPE, C.I.E., resigned the chairmanship in 1951 on becoming a member of the British Transport Commission, MR. J. SYDNEY Roonas accepted the invitation of the Northern Ireland Minister of Commerce to succeed him until a permanent arrangement could be made. It is hoped that Mr. Howden will take over the chairmanship on April I. Mr. Rogers' will remain a member of the Authority.

COACH NETWORK TO THEATRE

SPECIAL coaches to bring people to a Morecambe theatre from the surrounding country districts are to be run by Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., starting this month. Licences have been granted for some 20 routes, each with three or friar picking-up points, to serve people living in parts where there are no late return buses.

The coaches will be run regularly, serving particular areas on specific days of the week. The company is running the scheme in conjunction with the Royalty Theatre, Morecambe, and with the support of the Arts Council.
