Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RE: ELEPHANT IN the room (CM 22 November), my view is that it's probably best not to increase weight limits at this point in time. I base this decision on the fact that the authorities appear to have no wish to keep up with road repairs.

Those that are carried out are by complaint, not by authorities' own initiative, and not of a very high standard either — as I just witnessed in Iver, Buckinghamshire, where we have an LGV base.

The vehicles mostly work loaded in and out of the village — which is good for the economic operation of vehicles (mostly 44and 32-tonne artics and rigids).

The road network in the area is mostly semi-rural and urban, and hasn't been updated in 50 years, but the volume of LGV traffic has increased many fold in the past 10 years.
