ull Range of Anti-theft Devices FULL range of vehicle anti-theft devices claimed to be 1 fool-proof is to he put into production in January next by Thief Deterrents (Cardiff) Ltd. The makers claim at a police mechanic failed to start the engine of a vehicle ted with a device after 34 hours' work.

The anti-theft devices will be suitable for all types of vehicle id prices will range from .£4 4s. for a simple model which impletelv immobilizes the engine, to £50 for a specially signed, fully automatic system intended for the protection ' vehicles carrying particularly valuable loads. The cheapest e the Mark V, a semi-automatic device which makes the gine completely immobile, and the Mark IA, which does e same, hut is fully automatie and sets itself when the driver ayes the vehicle.

A more expensive model called the Mark II. at £24 is (itched on and off as the driver leaves and enters the vehicle, id this can be fitted to diesel-engined vehicles when immobilinon is attained by a solenoid cutting off the fuel in a way hich will not cause air locks in the system.

For vehicles which carry valuable goods or large sums of one., the Car-O-Matic, at £33, is recommended. This model ,s all the features of the Mark II with the 'extra advantage at there is only one key made which will turn the device off id start the engine. The Robot—which costs from 138--is ecially designed for commercial vehicles. It is fully autoatic and dispenses with the use of all kinds of keys. Instead, functions on "a time-Sequence systern, allowing the driver sec. to enter the vehicle and &tit off the system by a pro cedure known only to him. Should he not do this in time, horns sound intermittently and the engine is immobilized in three different ways. This unit is ideal for vehicles which change drivers, as there is no key to lose.

Goods vehicles which are particularly difficult to protect are specially catered for, with the individually designed devices to suit the necessary requirements of the particular vehicle, These could include the installation of electromagnetic-bolt locking doors, bonnets and windows, and bullet-proof as well as burglar-proof plate-glass windows. Immobilization of the engine is in four stages. The fuel is cut off, the ignition and starter immobilized and a slipped timing device Nivith automatically timed alarms which reset themselves after each attempt to illegally enter the vehicle, can be fitted.
