Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

for certifying officers on the subject of luggage trailers for buses (The Commercial Motor, July 19) has now been issued for comment. It sets out the general lines to be followed regarding the conditions of approval.

It is proposed to amend Regulation 3 (1) of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations so as to exclude from the overhang any part of the towing vehicle designed primarily for attaching the trailer, and any fitting designed for use in connection with any such part.

Amongst requirements for trailers ar the following: The unladen weight sha not exceed one ton; two road wheels c four close-coupled wheels shall be prc vided; if two wheels are provided th centre of gravity of the trailer whe uniformly loaded must be forward of th centre line of the wheels; and the unlade trailer platform height (excluding an wheel arch) shall not exceed 24 in. Th drawbar of the trailer shall have coupling complying with the S.M.M.1 standard (or any British Standard whic replaces it) for couplings of the size i question.
