Ford P.S.V. for Cairo: The commercial vehicle section of the Ford Motor Co. Ltd. has received a £60,000 order from Egypt for 40 special Thames p.s.v. chass:s. Edinburgh Improvements:. Edinburgh Cor-. ()oration transport committee has approved improved bus services covering the North West area of the city. These plans will cost E73,000 and include redirection of routes and the addition of a further route to ensure a smoother and more regular flow from the Nc;rth West of the city to the West end through the city centre to the outer penMC.C.T. The transport committee has also approved the elimination of the existing 3d. charge on parcels or luggage carried by pns.,..ngers on Corporation vehicles. Beard Caus:s Bother: At Bradford County Court last week, Judge J. W, Stansfield awarded £21 is. 10r1 damages, with costs, to Eatz Akbar Khan. a 31-year-old Pakistani. Mr. Khan was formerly a-trainee bus conductor with Bradford Corporation • and refused to shave off his beard when requested and had been dismissed ; This resulted in the corporation being sued for 'damages for wrongful dismissal. The judge said he found no good reason for dismissing the plaintiff and thought it was a highly unwarranted interference with the freedom of the individual. Mr. A. Furner, a Bradford Corporation Transport department instructor for 22 years, said he thought. that Khan's beard made him look untidy and felt that it should be removed. The buses carried a number of children and women passengers who did not like beards, he said.
