Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AGROSS vehicle weight of 16 tons is now permitted in the Republic of Ireland for two-axle vehicles. This limit, which represents an increase of 1 ton, was introduced under new Construction and ',Ise Regulations which have now become operative. For three axles the

figure is 22 tons. With a four-axle vehicle the gross weight may be up to 25 tons, against the earlier 24 tons.

On July 1, 1964, a total vehicle weight of 28 tons will be allowed for new fouraxle units where the measurement from the foremost axle to the rearmost axle is not less than 24 ft. However, it appears that vehicles with four or more axles at present licensed in the Republic of Ireland will, under the new regulations, be authorized to operate with a gross

weight of 28 tons. In the case of maximum-load units the bogie loading must not exceed 18 tons.

Articulated outfits have hitherto been restricted to 33 ft. and 25 tons, but fouraxle designs with the furthermost front and rear axles more than 35 ft. apart will now be permitted a loading up to 32 tons. A maximum of 36 ft. is now permissible for rigid-vehicle overall lengths instead of the previous 30 ft. The length of vehicles towing trailers is restricted to 30 ft. against the earlier 26 ft.

Regulations relating to vehicle lighting have also been amended.
