WINCANTON HAS expanded its container business by opening a new off-quay container storage and hub facility at Greenhorn Common, West Berkshire.

The third-party logistics provider is using the site to provide shipping lines, freight forwarders. retailers and importers with an inland hub located at the junction of the A34 and M4.

Wincanton reveals that the site is capable of supporting the Port of Southampton and it can also provide cost-effective storage and trunking for current and future customers mainly due to its position.

In January 2008, Wincanton spent E.25m on acquiring Hanbury Davies, while in November 2008, it claimed to be the UK's largest container haulier following its £19.5m takeover of Woodbury, Suffolk-based CEL Group.
