It is designed for use in conjunction with engines having a maximum torque of 350 lb.-ft, It has been developed to meet the requirements of commercialvehicle manufacturers who prefer this type of transmission system to the twospeed axle. It is fitted immediately behind the main gearbox.
The main demand is expected to be for overdrive gearboxes, but units will also be supplied in underdrive form. The adoption of the epicyclic principle has permitted the design of an exceptionally compact and robust unit. The sun wheel is allowed to float radially to equalize the load distribution to the three planet pinions.
