SPEC1AL arrangements for disposal in Scotland were announced on Wednesday by the Road Haulage Disposal Board, The great majority of British Road Services' vehicles remaining to be sold in Scotland will be offered in a special list to be published at the end of September, but the units can be inspected before then. The list will contain some 1,150 vehicles in 46 units. Eleven of the units, numbered 4500 to 4510, will be large. Each -will serve a fairly Wide area and between them they will cover most of Scotland. All except one will contain several depots. There will also be 12 units, each consisting of a single depot.

" British Road Services will be prepared to discuss, with a successful tenderer the possibility of establishing reciprocal working arrangements and terminal facilities," the Board stated.

Before disposal began, B.R.S. owned about 3,550 vehicles in Scotland. Of these, some 425 are to be retained and operated from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Kirkcaldy. There are approximately 3,125 vehicles for sale and 1,300 have been earmarked for the small man. About a third of the latter have been sold. The remainder will be re-offered in small units until the

demand is satisfied.

The larger units, with the territories that they will serve, are as follows:— Aberdeenshire: Unit 4500, based on Aberdeen, 127 vehicles (619 tons) and 13 additional, four depots in Aberdeen. North-east Scotland: Unit 4501, based on Peterhead, 62 vehicles (304 tons) and six additional, premises in Peterhead and Fraserburgh. North-west Scotland: Unit 4502, based on Inverness, 46 vehicles (175 tons) and four additional, premises at Inverness; Dingwall, Ullapool and Gairloch. Angus: Unit 4503, based on Forfar, 92 vehicles (476 tons) and nine additional, property at Forfar and Arbroath. Fife: Unit 4504, based on Dunfermline, 80 vehicles (394 tons) and eight additional, depots at Dunfermline, Alloa and Leven. West Lothian: 'Unit 4505, based on Lintithgow, 53 vehicles (350 tons) and five additional, property at Linlithgow and Edinburgh. East Lothian and Borders: Unit 4506, based on Kelso, 24 vehicles (143 tons) and three additional, property at Kelso, Edinburgh . Haddington, St, Boswells and Berwick.

Argyll: Unit 4507, based on Glasgow, 69 vehicles (285 tons) and seven additional, premises at Glasgow, Carripbeltown, 1L,ochgilphead, Inveraray and Tubed.

South-west Scotland: Unit 4508, based on Dumfries, 79 vehicles (409 tons) and seven additional, property at Dumfries, Stranraer, Lockerbie and Glasgow.

Central Scotland: Unit 4509, based on Falkirk, 92 vehicles (484 tons) and nine additional, depots at Falkirk, Denny, Cumbernauld and Stirling, Ayrshire: Unit 4510, based on Kilmarnock, 46 vehicles (230 tons) and five additional, depot at Kilmarnock.

Units 4500, 4508, 4509 and 4510 may be sold by private treaty. Obviously, buyers are already interested and if negotiations are concluded before the Scottish list is issued officially, these four units will be withdrawn.

What is regarded as a minimum of property has been included with these units, but in some cases more can be bought by private treaty. Stores may also be purchased privately.

Most of the units include maintenance facilities. At Forfar and Linlithgow there are district workshops at present used by B.R.S. for repairing vehicles other than those in the units with which, the workshops are being offered. There will be a delay in completing the purchase of these workshops while B.R.S. make other

arrangements for repairs.

Small Units The following smaller units, all except one with premises, will also be put up for sale, the number of licensed vehicles being given in parentheses:—

Turriff (5); Macduff (4); Nairn (6); Perth (17); Brechin (two units, 17 and 5); Mei& (7); Alva (11); Strathkinnes (10); Kelty (I0); Edinburgh (7); Bathgate (25): Haddington (18); Galashiels (10); Strone (7): Oban (2); Abington (13); Moffat (7); Falkirk (two units. 31 and 19); Donne (10); Ayr (8); Mayhole (20), Single-depot units, with the number of vehicles in parentheses, will be offered at:— Eight (13); Blairgowrie (14); Bo'ness (8); Cambitslang (10); Glasgow (four units-6. 10, 15, 45); Greenock 181; Motherwell (25): Paisley (18); Unbar (61 Those who require further information and facilities for inspection before the list is published should write to Mr. J. tured by Beardmore Motors, Ltd., 167 Great Portland Street, London, W.1. Two versions of their new-style vehicle will be exhibited at the Commercial Vehicle Show next month.

Standard and de-luxe models will be on show, both of which embody many features claimed to be new in taxicab

design. A stripped chassis will also be exhibited.
