NORTH-WESTERN Deputy Traffic Commissioner Patrick Mulvenna has cut a Cheshire partnership's 0-licence authority from two trucks to one pending a report from a Vosa vehicle examiner.
Vehicle examiner Peter Rimmer reported that vehicles run by Warrington-based farmersJA and VC Fryer had attracted three prohibitions since October last year. These included an S-marked prohibition (showing a serious lapse in maintenance) for a missing wheel stud.
Rim mer was concerned by the state of the vehicles and their poor annual test history.
For the company, David Glover said maintenance was now contracted out with six-weekly inspections. Joseph Fryer undertook to handle only minor repairs and to attend a five-day Vosa vehicle inspection course; the Fryers and their son would attend an operator's seminar. Regarding the missing wheel stud, Joseph Fryer said he had checked the remaining studs and felt from experience that the vehicle was safe to use. He claimed that the firm was now very safety-conscious.
The Deputy TC said that if the Vosa report was satisfactory, the licence authority would revert to two vehicles and one trailer.
