Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Rail-freight firm DVS says plans to shut parts of the West Coast Main Line will not affect its services. A 40-mile stretch of the line from Coleich in Staffordshire to Cheadle Hulme, Just south of Stockport will be closed for four months next summer in a bid to speed up an upgrade of the line.

A spokesman for EVIS says that this is not a key route for its services and it will still be able to access its terminals. "We may be affected in the future when they replace other parts of the line." he adds." However. we are Involved in the decision-making party and can it forward ideas to make sure that the needs of freight are addressed.

-The improvements are long overdue and it is better that they make improvements like this than in a series of overnight blockades. If they [the Strategic Rail Authority] have a proper outline of what they are going to do it enables us to make alternative arrangements and ensure that closures have a limited effect on our services."
