Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

of stolen V5 documents

• The Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has warned drivers buying used vehicles to check V5 registration documents after a number of stolen V5 forms have since been used with stolen vehicles.

The agency says that at least 20 of these forms have been filled in with bogus details of legitimate vehicles or those that have been written off.

The police warn that there may be several hundred more V5 forms in circulation on the black market.

The DVLA says that on close examination the faulty documents will bear a serial number in slightly lighter print that the rest of the document, which may also be out of alignment.

The printer duplicated these serial numbers after a faulty batch was rejected so there are also genuine registration documents in circulation bearing these numbers.

The serial numbers at the top left hand corner of the stolen documents are as follows: AP8022601-AP8024400; AP9424801-AP9426600; AP9430201-AP9432000; AP9448201-AP9450000; AN8854201-AN8856000; AN8847801-AN8859600.

• If you want to check the validity of a V5. contact the NIA on 0870 241 1878.
