Meanwhile, he says, Ford is more than happy with its manual shift, which Is certainly smooth. While most manufacturers are moving the shift to the dashboard, he reckons it belongs on the floor.
Schulters cites feedback from users during the design process and ergonomic evaluation which showed a floor-mounted stick was the best optiee. With a growing number of gear changes per day, in line with congestion, the shift should be in the most natural place for the driver, he suggests.
