MR. H. WATSON, general manager of the transport department of Sheffield Corporation, has retired after 96 years' service with the municipality, and MR. R. C. MOORE, now deputy, has been promoted to the post.

He was recalled . to the Forces from the Territorial Reserve of Officers in October, 1939, and served first with his regiment and later on staff appointments at the War Office, the British Army Staff _in Canada and the B.L.A.

MR. G. K. PALMER, A.M.I.Mech.E., M.I.A.E., M.Inst.T., whose portrait appears on this page, has been appointed assistant managing director of Brush Coachwork, Ltd., of Loughborough. In 1920, he joined the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omni bus Co., Ltd., and was appointed assistant chief engineer in 1921. In 1931 he joined Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., and in 1939 was appointed acting chief engineer, which position be has left to join Brush Coachwork, Ltd.

MR. W. H. STEPHENSON, district manager for six years in Southport for the Ministry of War Transport, has now relinquished his position. He has also been the Emergency Heavy Haulage Officer (Defence Lines) during the same period.

MR. RONALD ROBERT MACADLAY, who has .been appointed general manager of Colchester Corporation. transport undertaking, started his career in the transport industry with the Cleveland Car Co., at Darlington. He was afterwards with United Automobile Services, Ltd., at Darlington and Bishop Auckland. -Later, he held a supervisory post with the Southern National Omnibus Co., at Yeovil and Weymouth. Five years ago he was appointed rolling-stock superintendent of Luton Corporation transport department and was promoted deputy engineer in September, 1941.

MR. GEORGE W. HARRIMAN, 0.B.E., general works manager of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., has been appointed a director of the company. He is 37

New Bus and Coach

A N important coach and bus station is to be erected at Chepstow by Red and White Services, Ltd. The site is in Albion Square, and it is proposed to include all the necessary amenities, as well as a number of shops. It will be used for all services radiating from Chepstow.

This station will be the picking-up point for Associated Motorways' services as soon as they are re-introduced. In the summer, for instance, it is intended that there shall be two day

MR. G. A. BAXTER has been appointed transport officer to the National Farmers Union in succession to Mr. F. L, Sabatini. In 1938 he was transferred • to the chief operating manager's department, and until 1933 served on the Goods Modernization Committee. MR. C. KENT, of the service department of F. Perkins, Ltd., who was recently appointed headquarters over seas representative, left this country a.

Mr. Kent has been with F. Perkins, Ltd., since 1933, and during 1935-36 was its representative in the Argentine, Brazil, Trinidad and the West Indies.
