THE NUMBER of lorries using the port of Dover during Septeml was 61,138 units (tractive unit and trailer count as two units). Thil a 13 per cent increase on the previous September figure of 54,1 units.
For the nine month period from January to September 500,000 units used the port, representing a 13 per cent increase on the previous nine month period.
Other ro-ro freight during September again showed an increase at 9,400 units, a four per cent increase on the previous year. For the nine month peric however, other ro-ro freight clined 6.5 per cent to 85,0 units.
Handled cargo tonnage IA up nine per cent for Septemt at 710,000 tonnes, compar with 950,000 tonnes for 1 previous September. For nine-month period, tonna showed a 10 per cent increasE 5.6m tonnes.
