Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two 1972-model Cummins diesels will get their first UK showing in Scotland on November 17 — not at Kelvin Hall but at Glasgow airport's Excelsior Hotel. One will be the V-555, a Darlington-built eightcylinder 240 bhp vee engine which, although new to the home market, has been exported to America for some time; the other is a sixcylinder in-line diesel, the PowerTorque 225 producing 225 bhp at 1900 rpm and 930 lb ft maximum torque at 1100 rpm. This 225 engine has a capacity of 855 cu in.

The V555 has a bore and stroke of 4iin. and 4in. respectively and a piston displacement of 555 Cu in. Its maximum rating of 240 bhp at 3300 rpm is a gross figure, meeting the standard test conditions of BS AU141a.

Cummins will be showing the NHK. 205/ 220 in-line diesel on their own stand at the Scottish Motor Show from next Friday. The Excelsior Hotel display, say Cummins, is because of space limitation in Kelvin Hall. The special exhibition at the hotel on November 17 and 18 will be by invitation, and applications should be made to Marketing Headquarters, Cummins Engine Co Ltd, Coombe House, St. Georges Square, New Malden, Surrey KT3 4HG.
