'eter Evans Associates Ltd will be showing n entirely new concept of narrow aisle tacking machine which combines the :atures of fork-lift truck and stacker crane thile Barlow Myers Ltd will have on isplay two versions of a specialized narrow isle lift-truck which attracted a great deal f attention in prototype form in 1970.

Fork-lift models on display for the first me in Europe will be on show at the :aterpillar Tractor Co Ltd stand.

In the electric-powered mobile equipment eld, a new 10-ton capacity personnel arrier will be featured by Crompton .eyland Electricars Ltd along with other ersonnel carriers, platform trucks and .ailers.

The fork lift's potential to meet new larket demands will be demonstrated at the thibition by such accessories as exhaust urifying equipment to enable diesel and PG-powered trucks to operate in indoor wironments without creating noxious imes. This particular device will be shown y Engelhard Industries Ltd. Another wortant area of development in the igine-powered truck field in recent years has been hydraulic transmissions which do away with conventional gears and clutch. Equipment in this field will be shown by Brockhouse Engineering Ltd.

Storage racking

Many stands will feature extensive displays of storage racking and shelving, both multi-purpose types and systems, to solve specific problems. Metalrax Ltd, for instance, will show an example of how it tackled the problem presented by motor car spares and accessories which involve large volumes of items in a wide variety of weights and sizes. Acrow (Automation) Ltd will be showing its range of storage and handling equipment under the theme "People work with Acrow Systems", and Timspa Engineering Co Ltd will emphasize its complete systems facilities in storage and ancillary equipment for mechanized and conventional warehouses.

Another firm of handling system specialists, Bagshawe and Co Ltd will be advertising its project planning know-how in this field and our sister Journal Mechanical Handling, which is sponsoring the exhibition, will provide visitors with the opportunity to "converse" with a specially programmed stock control computer linked to the central computer of International Data Highway's Stock Management Service. The service provides users with accurate up-to-the-minute information about categories of goods in store, movement patterns, re-order points and many other points relating to stock controls, now regarded as the most critical factors in both warehouse design and management.

Other items of special interest to be seen among the 300 plus stands will be the document handling conveyor on the DocCon Systems stand; the range of electro-hydraulic lift tables, loading ramps, working platforms and other lifting and handling devices to be shown by G. Hunter (Mechanical Handling) Ltd; and lorrymounted cranes from the Japanese Tadano concern represented on the stand of C. Itoh and Co Ltd. Tadano, exhibiting for the first time, claims to be the world's largest producer of hydraulic lorry-mounted cranes.

New cranes

Jones Cranes will be exhibiting three new models on the 600 Group stand while sophisticated systems for bulk materials handling, weighing and control will be shown by Richard Simon and Son Ltd.

A variety of conventional and wheeled pallets will be seen on a number of stands as Will specialist conveyor systems for factory installation.

Visitors to the exhibition seeking expert advice on specific problems will be able to take advantage of the free advisory and consultancy service to be provided by Modern Materials Management Ltd, which is intended to enable visitors to learn to use the enormous variety of handling methods, equipment, components and services on display ' at the exhibition to maximum advantage.
