John Jeffreys, Middlesbrough branch manager of the British Steel Corporation's supplies and transport division, has been elected president of Teesside Chamber of Commerce. He replaces A. Batty (Head Wrightson and Co Ltd, Middlesbrough), G. C. Smith, general manager of East Midland Motor Services Ltd, is to become gm of Southdown Motor Services Ltd in succession to L. S. Higgins, now with the Maidstone company. Mr Smith started his career with Eastern Counties Omnibus Company in 1929.

John F. Maxon, 37, has been appointed Reliant Motor Co Ltd fleet sales manager. Mr Moxon served his apprenticeship with Morris Commercial Cars Ltd before gaining technical sales experience with BMC.

OBITUARY We record with regret the death of John Edmund Dorey. Mr Dorey, 60, who has died in a Manchester hospital after a long illness, was national transport manager, milk group, of the Co-operative Wholesale Society.
