transport industry. However, there appears to be no easy route and the only real answer is to do the rounds of the big transport companies whose names appear frequently in CM to see if any can offer you a position with prospects of training and progression to management status.
British Road Services Ltd operate a management training scheme which has set many young men on the management path, so I suggest you contact the BRSL staff officer at the London hq.
You could also try National Carriers Ltd and the nationalized parcels group headed by British Express Carriers and, of course, Pickfords.
Beyond these companies the large private concerns are occasionally to be found seeking management potential.
Some help may be obtained from the Cornmarket Careers Centre Ltd, 42/43 Conduit Street, London W1, which has recently published its 1971 guide "Careers for School Leavers". Although this guide covers the whole field of careers, it does contain some information about careers within the various modes of transport such as road, rail, sea and air. The Amey Group, for example, is listed as offering careers in all aspects of its multifarious transport operations. The Brent Group is another that is mentioned, as is The Union International Co Ltd which is concerned with meat distribution.
