THE ROAD HAULAGE Association (RHA) has appointed Herefordshirebased ABE (LedburyYs managing director Andy Boyle as chairman. He will be replacing Willie Oliver,

Oliver, the managing director of Londonderrybased Oliver Transport Services, tells CM: "Andy is the most experienced and longest serving member of the board." He adds that Boyle's position as a "pretty typical haulier" makes him more familiar with the problems that the industry is suffering from. With the price of fuel spiralling upwards, Boyle explains success will not happen overnight: "It's a war of attrition; hopefully, over time, we will win a little bit.

"We need to keep battling away with support from others."

Jonathon Bulmer, managing director at Bulmer Logistics, has been appointed senior vice-chairman. Tony Jones, managing director at Courten ham Warehousing and Distribution, takes over as junior vice-chairman.
