TWO additional versions of the I Daimler-Benz OM 352 5.675-litre, lirect-injection diesel engine, which was Itroduced in January of this year, have leen put into production for use in 4annheim-built chassis of from 3-5to '-tons payload. When originally intro!need the OM 352 had a DIN rating of 26 b.h.p. (140 b.h.p. S.A.E.), and with his rating the unit is employed in 1113 nd 1413 models. The more recent ngines are basically derated versions of he original design, one having a DIN sting of 110 b.h.p. (120 b.h.p. S.A.E.), nd the other being rated for 100 b.h.p.

(DIN), the S.A.E. rating in this case being 110 b.h.p. The less powerful engine is to be used in 710 models, which have a solo gross weight rating of 7-4 tons. and the 1 l0-b,h.p. unit will be used in the 911 range, the gross rating of which is 8.95 tons solo.

Whereas the 126-b.h.p. engine has a governed speed of 2,800 r.p.m., the newer versions are governed at 2,900 r.p.m. The torque output of the original engine is 260 lb. ft., whilst the respective outputs of the less powerful units are 232 and 203 lb. ft.: in all cases these torques are delivered at 1,600 r.p.m.
