THE bulk of orders worth £900,000
placed with Leyland Motors Ltd., by Coras Iompair Eireann is for passenger vehicles with air suspension. These will be Leopard single-deekers-255 have been ordered — and the remaining vehicles will be goods chassis-37 Beaver rigids and 12 Beaver tractive units.
Eighty-two of the Leopards will be standard 36-ft.-long 53-seater coach models, the remainder special 45passenger versions of the same model shortened to 30 ft. The 173 shortened chassis will be equipped with Pneurno, Cyclic five-weed gearboxes coupled direct to the 0.600 engines. As well as air suspension, all the passenger chassis will be fitted with magnetic-particle fah couplings, power-assisted handbrakes and steering and dual headlamp systems. They will be shipped C.K.D. and assembled at the C.I.E. Dublin works.
The Beaver rigids will be 15-ft.'-wheelbase models suitable for use with fourwheel trailers and those with the 12 tractive units will have 0.680 engines and six-speed overdrive gearboxes.
