Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW bus 'link between Northamptonshire towns and the East Coast was forged when the East Midlands Traffic Commissioners granted an express service licence to York Bros. (Northampton) Ltd. at Northampton on Tuesday. The firm will run coaches on Saturdays throughout July and August, mostly for holiday, makers, from Northampton, Wellingborough and Kettering to Hunstanton, Wells, Blakeney, Sheringham, West Runton and Cromer.

The Commissioners were told that more bus passengers were expected now• that the rail link with the East Coast had been cut.

Two Northants bus companies—R. L. Orsborn and Son Ltd., of Wollaston and Royal Blue Coach and Transport Co. Ltd., of Pytchley—objected to the application and in turn applied for licences for day and period excursions from Kettering and Cromer.

Mr. C. R. Hodgson, chairman of the Commissioners, said that York Bros. had produced evidence of some value in making out a case for the new express service, but the Commissioners did not think there was room for three services in Cromer. They saw no reason, however, why the two other companies should not run day excursions and they granted licences for this, but not period excursions.

Making the application for York Bros., Mr. A. C. I. Rothera said that a limitation of two coaches each Saturday— except on the three Saturdays of the Northampton holiday period when four coaches might be used—and not more than one coach on any Saturday to pick up and set down at Wellingborough, had been agreed.
