• Well-known Cheshire haulier James lrlam 81, Sons was caught up in an armed raid on a warehouse in Scotland when one of the firm's liveried vehicles was stolen for the getaway.
Several men burst into the McFarlane Packaging warehouse in Renfrew and threatened security staff with weapons. They then made off in Irlam's red Daf artic which was
loaded with computer equoment valued at more than Elm. The empty truck was later found abandoned in a lay-by on Eaglesham Moor Road near the A77. No-one was hurt during the raid, but police say staff were left shaken. Paisley Police want to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle between 01:0012:00hrs on Saturday 23 June Contact 0141532 5900.
