projects engineer—a new position created to deal with the increasing design requirements of forthcoming Government legislation for road transport. Mr. Bull, formerly a Hands development engineer, will also be responsible for experimental and test programmes associated with trailer and motive unit projects. M. Ellis has been appointed manager—development engineers. Mr. Ellis will be responsible for controlling the engineering development office and the sales engineering staff. G. Smith has been appointed distribution liaison manager. This also is a new post—created to give technical support to the countrywide network of Hands distributors.
John D. Moore has been appointed senior travel sales representative for the Fylde coast area by Ribble Motor Services and is based at the RibbleStanderwick "Travel Corner" in Blackpool. Mr. Moore was formerly Blue Cars Continental Ltd. Midlands and Northern area representative.
P. Chalmers Somerville has been elected chairman of the Scottish section of the Institute of Transport: T. Atkin. W. Murray and A. Cameron Miller are vice-chairmen. T. F. Watt has been re-elected honorary secretary and T. M. Glass re-elected honorary treasurer. R. McKean is immediate past chairman.
J. T. E. Robinson, managing director of the Bristol Group of Bus Companies, has been appointed a director of the Devon General Omnibus and Touring Co. Ltd. in the place of S. J. B. Skyrme, who has resigned. Mr. Skyrme has been elected chairman of A. Timpson and Sons Ltd. in succession to J. H. Richardson who has resigned from the board. D. S. Deacon has been appointed a director to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Richardson's resignation. W. M. Baxter (Moir and Baxter Ltd.. Edinburgh) has been elected president of the Scottish Motor Trade Association. H. Morrison Sutherland is vice-president and G. Valentine immediate past president. Peter F. Lanfranchi, 28, has been appointed central area engineer of Ribble Motor Services Ltd., Preston. He succeeds J. R. B. Dersley, who was recently appointed assistant engineer of the North Western Road Car Co. Ltd., Stockport.
