• The Government should admit that it is wrong, Mr. H. R. Featherstone, director of the TRTA, told a meeting in Plymouth on Tuesday. "The Government's tune is changing", he said.
"Perhaps the many detailed cases put forward by industry, plus the presumably unpalatable results of the unpublished Government surveys designed to pinpoint ignorance and prejudice, have convinced the Government that transport managers are not stupid after all.He was referring to the effects of the Transport Bill on long-distance operations and the road to rail aspect in particular.
