A HYDRAULIC-SUSPENSION trailer rt with a maximum capacity in the region of 300 tons has been built by Cranes (Dereham) Ltd.. for Robert Wynn and Solis Ltd, The trailer consists of a number of two-row, 16-wheel bogies and can be used in any of 10 combinations by varying the number of bogies. The smallest unit is a single two-row bogie with 16 tyres, but the basic units are two four-row bogies each having 32 tyres which can be used in a variety of ways, such as close-coupled or separate.

Each of the four-row bogies can have a two-row bogie close-coupled to it to make it into a six-row bogie with 48 tyres. and this has a capacity of about 150 tons. Two of these six-row bogies can be used for the transport of long loads with the load acting as the linkage between the bolsters. In addition a main frame and swan necks enable the bogies to-be made into a transporter, and it is in this form that Wynn is using the trailer for its first load.

This is a 157-ton generator stator which is being moved from Manchester to the Royal Victoria Dock in London. where it will be loaded on to the S.S. South Africa Star for Australia. The outfit is due to arrive in London by July 9.
