Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SHOULD regular Continental-tour operators, who build up business over.a large area by extensive advertising, be protected outside their licensed catchment area against sporadic late

• season local . operation by small companies?

This question was argued before the North Western Traffic Commissioners, at Blackpool, last Week, when R. H. Harrison (Morecambe), Ltd., applied for a new extended-tour licence to enable them to operate Continental tours from Morecambe, picking up at Lancaster, in October each year. James Smith (Wigan). Ltd., and . Florence Motors. Ltd., objected.

Mr. J. Booth, for the applicants, said that following many requests from their own customers they were asking for a limited licence for tours to the French and Italian Rivieras, Paris and Rome, and Paris and Barcelona.

These would serve people who could not get away during the peak holiday season. They were entitled to special consideration in their own area of Morecambe and Lancaster.
