MR. G. F. NOAKES; who joined the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., 35 years ago, has become principal stores assistant of the London Transport Executive. MR. W. I. KIRSHNER, southeast divisional engineer (central road services), has been put in charge of a new division which combines the north and south divisions of country buses and coaches. MR. H. F. C. ADCOCK, divisional superintendent, country buses and coaches, has been appointed an officer of the Executive. MR. D. H. Mims, principal executive assistant, has been promoted to establishment officer.

MR. K. W. P. KIRTON has been appointed general manager of Jamaica Omnibus Services, Ltd., in succession to MR. T. L. GRAY, who is returning to the United Kingdom as general manager of the Rhondda Transport Co., Ltd.

MR. R. R. GOODISON has been appointed Under Secretary of the Rail.ways and Inland Waterways and Rates and Charges (Inland Transport) Group of Divisions, Ministry of Transport, in succession to MR. J. R. Wm.'s, who has retired. 'MR. M. RATSCHUNAS has been appointed factory representative of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., in Sweden. Since 1936 he has represented. Nuffield. Rootcs and Dunlop in that country.

MR. G. A. C. HANDS, general manage!' of Halifax Transport Department, has withdrawn his acceptance of an appointment as passenger transport manager of Pietermaritzburg Municipality, Natal, South Africa. He will continue in his previous position.

MR. G. N. PF.TERS, retail marketing manager of the eastern division of ShellMex and B.P., Ltd., has been appointed Northern Irish divisional manager in succession to MR. R. I. CotiErr, who will shortly be taking up a senior appointment with the Power Petroleum Co., Ltd.

WE regret to record the death of MA. WALTER GORDON WILSON, MR. BERNARD HOPI'S, CLLR. JOHN WILLIAM KINGSTON and MR. PERCY WARD.

Maj. Wilson was one of the joint designers of the original Tanks used in the 1914-18 war. He was also the inventor of the self-changing gearbox which bears his name. He was 83.

Mr. Hopps was managing director of Lodge Plugs, Ltd., for nearly 40 years. He began his career in 1900 with British Thomson-Houston but eight years later started his own business making sparking plugs, joining the Lodge brothers in 1913.

Cllr. Kingston was managing director of K.W. Services, Ltd., Blakesley. Northants, coach proprietors. He was 59.

Mr. Ward had been secretary of the Lincolnshire Motor Co., Ltd., for 35 years.
