Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CARLSBERG UK has added 16 new Volvos to its 330-strong fleet, all supplied and maintained under a unique pence-per-kilometre (PPK) contract pioneered by Carlsberg and Volvo Financial Services.

Andrew Davis, national fleet engineer for Carlsberg UK, explains that the PPK package gives the firm flexibility on distances travelled. He says any changes to network operations can be accommodated without having to renegotiate lease or R&M contracts, or pay a hefty penalty for exceeding a prescribed kilometre contract.

The trucks, a mix of 14 FL 290 urban artic tractors and a pair of FM 330 rigids, are based at Carlsberg’s Stonecross (Warrington) and Croydon RDCs. They are equipped with automated manual transmissions and fitted with low-profile Michelin tyres.

Servicing at Stonecross takes place overnight and is carried out by Thomas Hardie Commercials at an on-site Carlsberg workshop.

Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, London, looks after the Croydon-based vehicles from a site adjacent to the Carlsberg depot.
