The venerable range continues to soldier on. and will get an SCR exhaust system to clean up the emissions for Euro-4. Available in chassis-cab and van forms, the origins of the Vario date back to 1988, though they can be traced back further. Called Vario since 1997, this vehicle sits in the 5.99-7.49-tonne GVW sector and is available with just one —a 134hp — version of the 4.25-hire Mercedes four-pot motor.
A van version of the 7.5-tonner— 814D — produced outstanding fuel economy returns around the route back in 2003, significantly ahead of any other 7.5-tonner we've tested. The engine won't break any speed records, though motorway cruising is a treat. The ride is firm but well controlled and the cab interior utilitarian.
