"MY OTHER CAR is a Porsche," says a label on a beaten-up Mini. I am now awaiting the slogan, "My other shirt is a Porsche," for the prestigious German motor manufacturer is axle-deep in the snob clothes trade.

For the dedicated Porsche owner who dismantles his car to prevent theft there is a "clutch bag" costing £144.95. Engine bags are not mentioned in the catalogue of "Porsche Possessions" but they would undoubtedly cost as much as a double-deck bus when I was young.
