THE TRANSPORT industry had a thin time of it in the New Year's Honours List published this week, with the top honour going to the Permanent Secretary at the Department of Transport, Peter Lazarus, who has been knighted.

Colin Curtis, vehicle engineering manager (buses) for London Regional Transport, becomes an OBE, while CM editor, lain Sherriff becomes an MBE, as does George Cornish,

fleet engineer with the NBC.

Another MBE has gone to Douglas Smith, lately operations manager with the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company.

The BEM goes to Victor Kinnin, a driver with Midland Red (South); Francis Messenger a salesman/driver with Rugby Portland Cement; Frank Miller, driver with the British Broadcasting Corporation; and William Miller, a bus conductor with LRT.
