• Tyneside Passenger Transport Authority has decided that the new rapid transit system planned on Tyneside should be called "Tran-Cit.The PTA held a contest to select a name, and the winner — Mrs Margaret Powell, of Ponteland, Northumberland -received a prize of £100 for her entry.
