C. M. M. Hobdell, 30, has been appointed a director of Caudle Ltd, part of the H. Clarkson Freight Group, with specific responsibility for the company's computer installation activities. He has been with the company since 1969 and was formerly manager of the Alltransport Computer Removals division of Caudle Ltd.

veteran MercedesBenz parts executive, has been appointed parts field manager, commercial products, and is responsible for the commercial products parts operation Mr L. Garnham from the newly opened truck centre serving London and the South East from Boreham Wood, Herts. Parts marketing manager Bill Bawden adds' car parts to his responsibilities.
Arthur Brook, chief engineer for Calor group transport, has received a gold watch to mark his 25 years with Calor. Mr Brook, well known in the transport industry, has served on the National Council for the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.
J. A. Giles, managing director of the Birmingham-based J. Johnson Group of Companies. has been elected chairman following the retirement of D. G. Bartholomew, 63, after 46 years with the organization. A subsidiary company is Cargo European Ltd, which has six depots throughout England: others are in the freight agency, travel and packaging fields.
Nigel Wemyss, since March 1972 customer services controller of Vandervell Products Ltd. Maidenhead, has been appointed to the board.
Stanley D. Shirley, 60, has been appointed president of Bristol Street Group Ltd, and has retired from the office of deputy chairman and as a director. Jonathan Bayliss, 28, becomes assistant traffic manager for the West Riding Group of companies from February 1. He is currently area traffic superintendent of the Exeter division of Western National Omnibus Co Ltd, an NBC subsidiary, and will succeed Brian Hirst, now assistant traffic manager of Southdown Motor Services Ltd.
J. G. Millar has been appointed director of Millburn-Wilkinson Ltd, British Leyland cv distributor in Scotland and part of northern England. J. R. Walter becomes director of Rossleigh Ltd, Rolls-Royce and BLMC specialist division distributor. Both companies are part of the Scottish Automobile Co Ltd.
Basil Clowes, 34, is joining Dennis Brothers Ltd, of Guildford, as parts manager, from Clark Equipment Ltd, where he was materials manager in the central parts division.
F. G. (Rick) Croft has been appointed managing director of Master Hire Ltd, the company formed to operate a franchise vehicle-leasing system for Vauxhall dealers. Mr Croft is a past chairman of the Leasing Committee of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.
E. S. Simpson, managing director of Jonas Woodhead and Sons Ltd, holding company of the Woodhead Group, has been appointed chairman and managing director.
