Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW TYPE of Fuller Roadranger twinlayshaft 10-speed gearbox is to be produced by Eaton Yale and Towne (UK) Ltd. at the concern's transmission division, Worsley, near Manchester.

Designated the RT-510F, the unit is suitable for engine torques up to 600 lb.ft. and is basically similar to existing Fuller transmissions which are available from America as 10-, 13and 15-speed units with torque ratings up to 900 lb.ft. The RT-510F has an overall length of 31in. and complete with clutch housing weighs 430Ib.

Dividing the torque equally between two layshafts enables the face width of the gears to be reduced by about 40 per cent, load sharing between the layshafts being ensured by the use of floating mainshaft gears.

The transmission will initially be fitted to the tractive unit of a 32-ton g.t.w. combination which will tour the country on a demonstration run and will later make a tour of the Continent.
