AT a resumed hearing in Birmingham on Tuesday, West Midland LA, Mr. J. Else, granted one of three B licences applied for by W. Griffiths.

The three vehicles which Mr. Griffiths hoped to have licensed consisted of a flat, an attic and a tipping vehicle. The application attracted two objectors.

Mr. E. Tipton, of E. Tipton and Son, said that although he had three vehicles of his own he often had to hire from Mr. Griffiths in order to complete his factory clearance work. Since Mr. Griffiths' licence had expired, his own vehicles had to work on Saturdays and Sundays; he could employ Mr. Griffiths for two or three days a week.

Mr. L. Mann, of Mann's Home and Garden Stores, said that, since Mr. Griffiths had been unable to deliver for him, he had to borrow a neighbour's van.

In giving his decision, Mr. Else said: "If one behaved in the most generous possible manner, there is work only for one vehicle." He allowed the applicant to decide which vehicle he wished to be licensed; Mr. Griffiths decided on the tipper.
