Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RIKK1 Chequer's TruckNet UK column (CM 15 January) made an excellent point.

I'll be approaching 65 when I'll be required to fulfil 35 hours of training in order to keep my licence for the Driver CPC.

1 had previously decided to relinquish my licence at that time rather than listening to a week of 'clap-trap' delivered by -kids' with far less experience, knowledge and qualifications.

However, if the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) was to lake on board the suggestion that important and valuable subjects such as first aid were made core elements of the curriculum. I would certainly reconsider.

The curriculum doesn't require any specific elements to be included. In most cases, the content of courses will be primarily in the gift of the employer. I can foresee most training consisting of 'how to be friendly to customers'; 'fuel efficiency';'being nice to the boss'; 'keeping your cab clean' and 'filling in paperwork: Suggestions for topics should include 'driver safety'; 'driver's rights and obligations' and 'advice and new trends for road safety: My experience tells me that I'll probably be hanging up my keys for the last time when September 2014 comes round!
