Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HOLLAND EUROPE the British arm of the US manufacturer of couplings, landing legs and trailer suspension. went into administration last Friday. Half of the staff at the Hartlebury-based company have lost their jobs.

MD Richard Bond blames the crisis on its dealings with GeneralTrailers France. At the end of November GT France was granted six months' court protection in bankruptcy: it currently owes Holland "a huge amount of money". GT France. which has noconnection with Crane Fruehauf. was responsible for 40% of Holland's business. Bond says he is determined to trade through the problem; the firm will continue to support its remaining customers.

Holland's American owners are considering ways to restructure its European operations, including looking for a potential buyer.

• German trailer manufacturer Koegel AG has applied for legal protection from the threat of future bankruptcy. This allows it to keep trading in co-operation with a temporary insolvency administrator.

Koegel recently acquired the French trailer company Chereau wit of its administration.
