A CAMPAIGN has been launched to save a popular roadside snack-bar which faces closure because nearby public toilets are a meeting place for gay men. Bob's Mobile Diner has operated from a lay-by next to the A69, near Warwick Bridge, Cumbria, for five years. It sells hot drinks, snacks and breakfasts to passing truckers.
The business is under threat because Hayton parish council wants the lay-by closed. Councillors acted following complaints about men who regularly meet in nearby toilets and woodland for sex, a practice known as'cottaging'.
The Diner's owner, Jeanette Mather,is fighting the closui says she has backing from than 500 customers.
