Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ebro tells us that the vans that go on sale in May will also have a tilting passenger seat and large hinged cover for the engine. An obvious engine access problem on the demonstration model was caused by a bolted down dual passenger seat frame and only a small flap underneath the seat cushion, in a cab which does not tilt since it is integral with the van body.

The cab is separated from the loadspace by a bulkhead, with a window at head height, and this partition must help to keep the interioir noise level in the cab unusually low for a vehicle of this size.

On a short drive of the Ebro van I found the cab interior pleasantly quiet at all times. I was also impressed with the sturdiness of the van door and sidewalk construction, extensively ribbed to minimise flexing.

Only one van model (at least initially) will be offered by Ebro UK, and that will have a wheelbase of 3.4m (lift 2in) and an internal length of 4.878m (16ft).

Square section, flat-topped wheel arches protrude by only a few inches into the load compartment, which measures 1.75m (5ft 9in) from floor to roof.

An unusual Ebro feature is the engine-cover-mounted flat, rectangular plastic-covered, park brake control which has to be twisted slightly to release it, and takes a little getting used to. I was particularly impressed though with the crisp gearchange of the Spanish-built Turner gearbox.

The L75T's unladen weight is claimed to be approximately 3.5 tonne. Its front arid rear axle plated weights are respective! 2,850kg and 5,000kg.

Ebro UK says it has no irr mediate plans to introduc similar vans at different weight on L60 six tonne gvw vans sol, in Spain and other Europea countries) but is "testing th water" with the L75T.

The L60 and L75 chassis cab which first went on sale in th, UK in October last year (CM Oc tober 8, 1982) are being im ported from Spain at the rate a about 10 a month.

Motor lberica, which build Ebros, currently produces 35,001 tractors, 20,000 vans, 25,001 trucks (over 3.5 tonne gvw) an 130,000 Perkins engines a year.

Nissan now has a 54.6 per cen shareholding in Motor lberic and last month the first Datsur Patrol four-wheel drive vehicle; with Spanish-built Perkins en gines came off the new produc tion line in Barcelona. The Dat sun C20 light van, also with r Perkins engine, is expected to gc into production next year.
