• In the event of the postal strike continuing into the week beginning February 8 applications for international road haulage permits for journeys in March must be deposited at the Northern traffic area office. Newcastle upon Tyne, not later than 3 pm on Friday February 12. If applicants are unable to reach Newcastle the Department of the Environment, Road Transport (Goods) Division, Room' 9 /19, St Christopher House. Southwark' Street, London SE1, will accept applications up to the same deadline. It is stressed that when making the allocation it may not be possible for the Northern traffic area office to take into account any applications received after that date.
If the postal services have not returned to normal by the week beginning February 22 permits for March will be available for collection from February 25 onwards as follows:—
For companies based in Scotland and north east England, from the Northern traffic area office, Low Friar House, 36/42 Low Friar Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. For companies based elsewhere, from St Christopher House, as above.
