Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A penetrating lubricant known as Graphosol, which is specially formulated to break down rust and to lubricate corroded or seized components, has been announced by Bell's Asbestos and Engineering Ltd, a Bestobell company. Graphosol consists of highly concentrated, microparticle graphite powder suspended in a rust solvent carrier. The oils and solvents attack the rust allowing the ultra-fine graphite to penetrate deep between mating surfaces, thus easing movement of seized parts. It is claimed that the graphite and oil carrier continue to provide lubrication and prevent corrosion over a long period.

As a penetrating fluid, Graphosol will free seized or corroded components such as pipe 'fittings, nuts, valves and pistons; easy dismantling could be ensured by initially spraying individual components with the lubricant before assembly.

The high-graphite content provides low friction and low wear in such parts as hinges, pivots, chains, spindles, bearings slides, gears, links, conveyors, cams levers, guides and other

difficult-to-lubricate components. An oil film cannot normally be maintained in many of these applications and the graphite provides tenacious boundary lubrication over an extended period. Even at temperatures up to 600deg C, when lubricating oils are destroyed, the graphite contin

ues to supply a thin lubricating film.

The lubricant has been evaluated in applications in steel works, high-temperature bottling plants, laundries, hospitals and chemical plants. Supplied in a 12oz aerosol can with a flexible extension tube, it is nonflammable and will not affect stove enamel finish, nylon, ABS, polystyrene, acetal resin, polythene, glass-reinforced plastics, neoprene, plasticised PVC or a nitrile /PVC blend.

Made by: Bell's Asbestos and Engineering Ltd, Farnham Road, Slouth, Bucks. If extensive polishing of dirt nibs is needed, the metallic pigment may be sheared and the appearance spoiled; the use of Glassolac obviates this possibility. It may be applied to an acrylic or alkyd-amine original finish and the application of a single coat of base metallic enamel is followed by the application of a double header; and after a suitable flash-off period, two double header coats of the special lacquer are applied.
