Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IT is understood that a new double.I. deck bus, having independent suspension at both front and rear, is being developed by London Transport. Details. of its construction are likely to be announced within the next two months.

The Commercial Motor last week described briefly a patent taken out by the British Transport Commission covering a means for co-ordinating the hydraulic and mechanical means for operating the brakes on a passenger vehicle. The drawing showed an independent suspension system as applied to the rear wheels of a doubledeck bus.

A further patent No. 701,406, also taken out by the B.T.C., covers the steering layout for an independently sprung bus, and the accompanying drawing, which is a front elevation, shows the suggested design.

The wheel carriers (1) can swivel in a vertical direction on pivoted links (2 and 3). Although the resilient members are not shown these are coil springs. The steering column (4) is mounted with a slight inclination to the rear and is placed so that the steering box (5) lies somewhat ahead of the axis of the front wheels.
