Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Avon. Stand No. 57.

The Avon stand shows a very complete selection of solid tires for the various requirements of the cominekicial motor trade. The exhibit comprises the ordinary round type and the special B-pattern, which is intended for extra heavy work, such as that in Lancashire. Lancashire users should take particular notice of this section tire. For the lighter type of vehicle, the special combination rubber and steel non-skid tire is eminently suit

able Practical men will be interested in the list of satisfied users which will be shown to them On ap plication. Visitors will be interested to note that the Avon Co. is giving away a number of very neat little pocket cigar lighters.

Connolly. Stand No. 37.

The Connolly exhibit consists of its well-known solid rubber band tires, which are very popular among Lancashire users, as well as with other owners all over the country. Remarkable mileages have been achieved in neighbourhoods where the roads are, to say the least of it, not of the best. The walls of the stand are hung with photographs of many of the users, including such well -known names as Carter, Paterson, Selfridge, and Whiteley. The company is showing a pair of worn tires which have been sent to them by the Harrogate Carriage Co., Ltd. These have been running on Yorkshire roads, and have achieved mileages of 17,000 an d 18.5W respectively. A special shallow-section tire is manufactured for adapting steel steam-wagon tires for running on snow, etc. Among the accessories are aluminium sheeting for use on steps, etc., and the Para band seamless horn bulbs.

Continental.

Stand No. 54.

Those interested in commercial vehicles should pay particular attention to this stand. On it are shown many new fea ture s, besides those hitherto exhibited. The chief new exhibit is the

Continental d etachable rim for solid tires, single

can be changed on the spot without recourse to a hydraulic press. Demonstrations of this will be made during the progress of the Show. The famous Continental T-pattern solid tire is shown in great variety. This tire is well known for its resiliency and durability. Attention should also be given to the show cases containing various sections of solid tires, and also to the twin wheel for pneumatic tires. It may here be mentioned that the T-pattern tires have been chosen for use in municipal work in South Africa.

Columb. Stand No. 55.

The Columb pneumatic and tho Prowodnik solid tires shown on this stand are very popular among users all over the world. The pneumatic tires are in use on a great many light commercial vans, the herring-bone pattern non-skid being particularly adapted for this work. The solid tires are invariably noticeable, as they are the only allred solid tires on the market. They are made in one of the largest factories in Europe, where employment is found for nearly 14,000 hands. Remarkable mileages have been achieved on London buses, these rising to as much as 53,000 on the front wheels arid 31,000 on the rear wheels.

De Nevers. Stand No. 56.

The solid band tires manufactured by this company are made from the purest Para rubber in one of the most finelyequipped factories in the world. Owing to their being very highly compressed, exceptional wear and cut-resistiug powers are obtained, and they are, therefore, eminently suitable for the somewhat rough roads experienced in Lancashire. It may be of interest to note that Harrods, Ltd., has given the company a contract to supply tires to 66 of its cars during 1914-15. They are also running in the Manchester district on a large number of Royal Mail vans. One of the most noteworthy exhibits is the Creery wheel, which consists of a skeletonspoked wheel, to which detachable rims holding the solid tires can be bolted. The Tsection ribbed tire will M future be the standard one, as it has been found that this type of tread has superior wear-resistmg powers as compared with the original round
