• The Vehicle Inspectorate is considering setting up an intelligence unit to gather information on rogue operators.
A six-month feasibility study will decide if such a unit would make information gathering more effective: it would probably focus on investigating complaints and tip-offs concerning alleged illegal operations.
The study is described as a continuation of the VI's "effective targeting" policy.lt follows recommendations in the Curtis Report on the reorganisation of the Traffic Area Office network, which called for better communication between the VI, police and TA0s.
