The Container base Group has appointed Captain Kenneth Allen as general manager of Containerbase (Barking) Ltd. A Master Mariner, Captain Allen served for ten years as cargo superintendant of Port Line, in the Royal Docks. He then joined Associated Container Transportation and held a number of senior positions over a period of 15 years.

Malcolm Darch takes over as area sales manager for the Cardiff area for TIP Trailer Rental of Watford. Formerly a district manager with Rentco, Mr Darch will be based at TIP's Cardiff branch.

Scottish Transport Group has made two new appointment for Travel Press and Publicity Co Ltd, its press and public relations, advertising, marketing and promotional functions department. Eric Dakers is now Press and public relations manager, and Gavin Booth has been made marketing and publicity manager.

Andrew Cuenca has been promoted to London general manager for Truxhire. he will be in charge of its contract hire activities in the South. Mr Cuenca has been closely involved in the industry and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and National Guild of Transport Managers.

Brown Brothers Ltd has made two new appointments. Bill Fenn becomes group manager for customer marketing programmes. For many years Mr Fenn headed the company's Garage Equipment Division, Derek Langley takes on the role of group marketing manager for Garage equipment, Service and Tools. He joined Brown Brothers in 1977 as marketing manager of the Tools Division. He takes over from Mr Fenn.
